CBSE Board Curriculum
The CBSE Board introduces courses in Economics, Entrepreneurship, Business Studies and Accountancy at + 2 stages of Senior Secondary Education as formal commerce education subjects after ten years of social science schooling to help the students gain understanding about core business principles. The instructions in these subjects are to be given in such a manner that students are able to comprehend the principles and practices in business (trade and industry) as well as their external relationship with the society.
Scheme of Studies
In CBSE Board scheme of studies, Class XI and XII is considered an integrated course. Students need to select 5 subjects in class XI, which need to be continued in class XII. The subject combinations offered at Akshara are as follows:
- English, Business Studies, Accountancy, Economics (Compulsory subjects)
- Applied Mathematics/ Physical Education/ Mass Media (Optional subject)

In class XI, the students are introduced to Business Studies, Accountancy and Economics for the first time. Hence the teacher, bring in the practical world into their theory classes and acquaint students with the world of industry, business, economics and commerce to make the topics alive, exciting and relevant.
Our Business studies class begins with reading and analyzing Economic Times and Business Line newspapers articles related to Indian Stock Markets, Indian Markets, the study of Blue Chip companies, mid cap and small cap companies and effect of foreign Stock Markets on Indian Stock Markets.
This teaching approach of ‘Going beyond the curriculum‘ and connecting with outside business environment, helps in understanding of the concepts and application of the knowledge to the real world.
We believe in project-based learning, so students do a variety of projects with the assistance and guidance by the faculty.
Our projects are based on analysis of financial positions of Indian Companies, Indian Banks and their performances, Stock market indices, Rupee- Dollar relationship, Oil prices and Gold Prices relationship, Indian various FMCG companies their impact on Indian Economy etc.

The Career Guidance cell regularly conducts seminars and workshops by industry professional to create awareness in students about CA, CS & CMA programs and to provide guidance for the Foundation Level.
Supporting Infrastructure
Classrooms
All classrooms are digitally equipped with a computer, projector and a whiteboard to supplement the blackboard teaching so that the teaching time in the class is optimized (e.g. by saving time in drawing of diagrams)
Career Guidance Cell
Students are made aware of various study options in India and aboard for making informed career choices. Support is provided in the application process.
Sports Infrastructure
The school has one-acre sports ground and indoor sports hall for conducting games in the Physical Education subject curriculum.
Extra Curricular Activities
The school has three western music rooms wherein interested students can learn Guitar, Synthesizer and Drums. Cultural events, seminars and guest lectures are conducted in the AV Hall, amphitheatre and auditorium.

What are the School Timings?
The class lecture timings in senior secondary are as follows:
Monday to Friday (8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.) (till 2:45 p.m. on practical days)
Saturday (1st, 3rd & 5th) – (9:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.)

When do admissions start? When do classes start?
Students with good academic record can apply for admission before the declaration of Class X Board results by filling up the Registration Form to block seats. This year the classes will start from 15th June.
What is Bridge Course?
Bridge is a 1 week program to help students transition to higher level of learning by introducing key concepts in each subject and explaining the curriculum.
What if regular physical school classes do not start in June?
Students will continue to learn at home virtually till the time lockdown is lifted and schools are allowed to open. In 2020 session, we have ensured that learning continued for our students through online classes supported by digital resource material in our Learning Management System (LMS).
