Akshara International School’s primary section immersed itself in the rich cultural heritage of Maharashtra by celebrating Ashadhi Ekadashi with a vibrant “Palkhi Celebration Event” on Friday, 12th July 2024. The day was filled with traditional rituals, captivating performances, and insightful messages that connected students to their Indian roots.
The program commenced with a traditional Pooja and Aarti, conducted by esteemed Chief Guest Mr. Bapu Suryawanshi, along with Principal ma’am, Headmistress ma’am, and admin Sir. Students then brought the story of Ashadhi Ekadashi to life through engaging cultural performances. They portrayed iconic characters like Vitthal, Rukmini, and revered saints Tukaram and Dnyaneshwar, filling the atmosphere with joy and spirituality.
The highlight of the event was the Palkhi procession. Students enthusiastically participated, learning the significance of Ashadhi Ekadashi and the Palkhi Sohla while celebrating the journey of Lord Vitthal.
Addressing the students, Mr. Patil, Principal of Akshara International School, emphasized the importance of honoring these traditional festivals. “These festivals are integral to our cultural heritage and connect us deeply to our Indian roots,” he said. He further explained the significance of feet in our lives, highlighting the connection between grounding and our daily activities.
The mesmerizing devotional song and dance performances by the students further elevated the essence of the Palkhi celebration. The school campus reverberated with chants of “Vitthal, Vitthal,” creating a truly immersive experience. The entire event was a testament to the dedication of the CCA department and all the primary teachers who enthusiastically participated in bringing this vibrant celebration to life.
